What is Stump grinding?
We are the local stump grinding specialists… We grind down stumps using the most efficient and up to date machines. Stumps are ground down into mulch and we can reduce the stump to below ground level. We go as deep as necessary to remove all of the tree stump and its major roots. This allows for easy replanting and is the best way to remove tree stumps, causing the least damage possible to your garden.
Many customers are private gardeners. We also remove tree stumps for large estates, local authorities, builders and larger engineering projects.
What to expect?
Highland Tree Doctors will reduce the stump to wood chips, mixed up with the soil in which the stump was standing. This mulch fills the hole left behind by the stump. We turn up on time, complete the job efficiently and leave your garden tidy.
Why grind out a stump?
The stump is in the way! Stumps can make lawn mowing awkward – think of all the hundreds of times you have to mow round a stump. Stumps can be ugly or a trip hazard! Stumps can sometimes spread disease to nearby trees when left to rot. You might want to plant a tree or dig a vegetable patch. You want to build a shed or extend your drive… One visit from the stump grinder and its gone!
What happens to the leftover chips?
The valuable resulting ‘mulch’ is left in the tree stump hole, but it can also be used as a mulch elsewhere. The ground can then be replanted immediately or the mix can be used as an excellent alternative to other forms of weed inhibiting mulch. If you wish to grass the area, all the chippings must be removed and fresh topsoil imported. If you don’t, grass seed will not flourish and turf will perish.
