- Craft level Arboriculture qualification from Merrist Wood in Surrey – the leading Arboriculture College in the UK.
- Masters degree in Forestry from Aberdeen University.
- NatureScot bat licence held since 2008.

Donnie has worked in the Arboriculture Industry in the UK, Canada and New Zealand before returning to his home town of Inverness to bring his experience to the Highlands.

Donnie is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Arboriculture Association, the Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA), the Bat Conservation Trust and the Inverness Bat Group.
